Just returned from a challenging trip to the Rocky Mountains, where I successfully completed my EPA recertification. The conditions were harsh—gusty winds, changing light conditions, and the rugged Rockies conspiring against me—but I’m proud to say I came out with my certification renewed and my skills sharpened.
Environmental compliance and air quality monitoring are critical parts of my work as a meteorologist. This EPA certification allows me to better understand and assess air quality impacts, essential for supporting companies and communities in keeping our air clean and responsible practices. It’s also vital for legal and insurance claims, where accurate air quality assessments and environmental compliance can be pivotal. Forensic meteorologists like myself can be called upon to provide expert testimony or evidence in cases involving air quality disputes, emissions, and environmental incidents. Having the proper certifications is key to ensuring that the data and analysis we provide can stand up to the scrutiny of the legal system.
These challenging certifications sharpen our skills and make us more effective. I’m grateful for the opportunity to put my expertise to the test and continue working towards a cleaner environment. It’s not always easy, but this kind of work matters.
