John Bryant Federal Court-Qualified Forensic Meteorologist
John H. Bryant is a federal court-qualified forensic meteorologist who holds the rare global distinction of triple certification from the Gold Standard American Meteorological Society (AMS), the National Weather Association (NWA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He is recognized as one of the few meteorologists worldwide to hold all three certifications concurrently, underscoring his unparalleled expertise in forensic weather reconstruction and atmospheric science. With more than 30 years of weather analysis and forensic meteorological experience, he provides expert testimony and analysis in high-stakes personal injury, property damage, aviation, and wildfire litigation for both defense and plaintiff counsel.
Mr. Bryant’s work spans a wide spectrum of meteorological litigation, including slip-and-fall incidents on icy or snow-covered surfaces, vehicle collisions influenced by rain, fog, or black ice, and severe weather claims involving hurricanes, tornadoes, hailstorms, wind storms, lightning, flooding, and wildfires. His forensic methodology integrates historical weather databases, radar and satellite interpretation, GIS mapping, and atmospheric modeling to reconstruct conditions with pinpoint accuracy. Every report is designed to withstand scrutiny in federal court.
Certified by the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA), Mr. Bryant’s credentials reflect both scientific authority and legal credibility. He also holds EPA Method 9 and 22 certifications, providing specialized expertise in emissions analysis with wildfire reconstruction, an increasingly critical area in modern litigation. Mr. Bryant has provided expert testimony in deposition and jury trial across state courts nationwide, offering compelling, courtroom-ready evidence that consistently meets Daubert standards.
Mr. Bryant understands the demands of litigation timelines and works collaboratively with legal teams to develop strategies that anticipate opposing expert challenges. Serving as Chief Meteorologist for more than a decade, he directed teams analyzing and communicating complex, life-saving atmospheric events to non-technical audiences. His understanding of storm dynamics, microclimate effects, and historical weather patterns allows him to provide clear, evidence-based conclusions for cases of all sizes.
Mr. Bryant has applied advanced radar analysis and GIS mapping to accurately determine the timing of ice formation in complex litigation matters, successfully countering opposing expert testimony and contributing to favorable settlements. His forensic reports have helped avoid trial in most of his cases, including several wrongful death litigations, by providing clear, data-driven weather reconstructions. He has reconstructed wind and ice conditions in high-stakes disputes with outcomes favorable to his clients. In one notable matter, Mr. Bryant demonstrated the presence of a microscale thunderstorm event, ultimately saving a municipality from a $2 million claim and preventing the case from proceeding to trial.
John Bryant holds a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences from Mississippi State University (2001).
